New call-to-action

Congratulations 2016 Annual Staff Award Winners

At the end of every year, we give out a few awards to recognize some of our top staff members. In addition to being excellent at their jobs, these people exemplify our Core Values: Do the Right Thing, Personal Connections, and Hunger for Growth. We've highlighted a few of these amazing folks below. Congratulations to our 2016 staff awards winners!

Consultants of the Year

Mr. Paul Seiler: Durham Green Team

Paul Seiler: Durham Green Team

I originally started working for Exceptional IT in November, 2014 on the HelpDesk as a Support Technician. After WorkSmart acquired Exceptional IT, I eventually transitioned into the Consultant role on the Green Team. In April of 2016 I became the Project Coordinator for the Green Team. I recently received the Consultant of the Year Award for 2016 on my team and also joined WorkSmart’s Donations Committee for 2017. I may be biased, but I really do love our team and our clients. When I get to see the results of a project begin to benefit those people I’m communicating with every day and their business grows because of it-- there is an overwhelming sense of fulfilment that we’ve done the right thing, and we’ve helped great people.

More about me:

Outside of WorkSmart, I am a husband to my wonderful wife, Becky; a father-to-be (delivery date projected for June 27th), and a Professional Raleigh Wedding Photographer

If I won the lottery – I'd sell everything, pack up my family, and say “We’re going to Disneyworld!” We would plan a travelling expedition around the world from the Disney resort with my family, end up in Hawaii for a while, reassess, and take it from there.

My favorite quotes are kind of a revolving door as I get older and experience more - right now I have two. They are both from the book, Fahrenheit 451: “We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at last one which makes the heart run over.” And “Stuff your eyes with wonder, he said, live as if you’d drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.”

Mr. John Woodall: Charlotte Team

Mr. John Woodall: Charlotte Team two time winner - 2012 and 2016

I'm a senior consultant and have been with WorkSmart for 13 years now.   I enjoy the never ending daily challenges, the variety of people I get to work with and the team that WorkSmart has put together to make it a great company to be a part of.

More about me:

Pets, more pets, and kids.  We have a house full!  We have four kids - two college aged and two in high school.  Two dogs (Rotty and a Doby), one cat, five parakeets, four conures, two bearded dragons, five hermit crabs, a guinea pig, rabbit, snake, two turtles, and five fish tanks.  We enjoy nerding out watching Dr. Who, Marvel's Agents of Shield, Gotham, etc.   We also play a few video games together.   My wife and I are foodies and enjoy our semi-monthly lunch excursions to try new places.

What is the scariest movie you’ve ever seen? I generally don't watch any because I usually find them ridiculous.  Only one freaked me out and stayed with me: The Blair Witch Project.

My Mantra: Don't outsmart your common sense.

Also honored as a Consultant of the Year winner for 2016 were:

Mr. Jesse Crow: Durham Orange Team

Ms. Danielle Joyner: Durham

Ms. Danielle Joyner: Durham shared services team two time winner - 2012 and 2016

I started working for WorkSmart in October 2011 in the accounting department. This past year WorkSmart presented me with the opportunity to join a new team. I can now be found upstairs behind the front desk in the Engagement Support department. What I love most about WorkSmart are the people. I learn new things from my fellow co-workers every day. WorkSmart is also big into growth. With growth comes new challenging opportunities and I like being able to explore, learn and challenge myself. My days are never boring!

More about me:

When I’m not at WorkSmart, you can find me shuttling my two sons around the Triangle area in my new gas saving car! I enjoy Zumba and Kickboxing. I became an aunt this year. My favorite shows are Scandal, Nurse Jackie and Orphan Black.

My pet peeves are loud beeping sounds. For example obnoxious alarm clocks, people who honk their car horn in the morning and the newest loud beeping sound from the chip credit card readers at the checkout lines. When I am having a bad day I eat Wendy’s French fries and Ben & Jerry’s Tonight Dough ice cream and make my youngest son give me a hug. Lastly, I can now officially say that my favorite Kool Aid flavor is grape and thank you to everyone who sent me Kool Aid packets after my last employee spotlight!

My words of wisdom - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Also honored as a Co-Worker of the Year winner for 2016 were:

Mr. David Brown: Durham service teams

Mr. Riley Truitt: Charlotte office back-to-back-to-back 3-time winner - 2014, 2015 and 2016

Senior Business Advisor of the Year

Mr. Bob Casey

Mr. Bob Casey seven time winner - 2008, 2010, and 2012-2016

I started in sales at WorkSmart in August 2004, right after moving here from Colorado with my young family. WorkSmart took a chance on me and I took a chance on them. In many respects we grew up together. It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how far we’ve come over the years. I’m excited to see what unfolds going forward.

More about me:

Outside of WorkSmart you’ll find me spending time with my family. Suzanne is my loving and supportive wife of 15 years. We enjoy hanging out with our two great kids, Larson (13) and Skyler (11). We love to travel, spend time outdoors, play games, watch movies, and laugh. Larson and I like to hit the climbing gym together, and Skyler likes to help me work the grill. I love being a dad.

When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better? I rarely have bad days. But, when I’m feeling a little down, I like to exercise and do yoga, which feeds me spiritually and physically. I also like to crank up 80’s classic rock to take me back to simpler times!

My words of wisdom: AKA, my favorite line from my favorite movie: “Carpe Diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”

Congratulations to all our amazing co-workers and friends who won awards this year.
